Who is behind HuisPunte
What is Voice for All?
Voice for All builds HuisPunte and gives it to residences. This page explains what that arrangement actually means - what it costs your house, what we can see, and what we will not do.
In one sentence
Voice for All is the organisation behind this website: it writes the software, pays for the hosting, verifies residences and answers the e-mail - and hands the finished thing to residences to run themselves.
For the organisation’s own account of who they are and what else they do, go to voiceforall.co.za. This page is only about HuisPunte.
What “given to you” means
It means what it says: your residence is not billed for HuisPunte, there is no per-resident licence, and there is no version of it with the useful parts held back. A house of forty and a house of four hundred get the same product.
It also means the residence stays in charge of the thing that matters. Your leaders define the point categories, the values, the events, the roles and who holds them. We do not set a single one of those, and we cannot change them for you.
What we can and cannot see
Operating a platform means holding accounts, verifying that a residence is real, and being able to fix a house that has lost administrator access. It does not require reading anyone’s points, and HuisPunte is built so that we don’t.
What an operator can do
- Verify or deactivate a residence.
- Resolve a leadership dispute or a handover.
- Suspend or restore an account that is being abused.
- Read the audit trail of administrative actions.
What an operator cannot do
- Award, deduct or edit anybody’s points.
- Read a residence’s point ledger as a matter of course.
- Change a residence’s rules, categories or values.
- Delete a point entry - nobody can; corrections are reversals.
Those are not promises about how we intend to behave; they are how the database is built. The residence boundary is enforced at the row level, so a query that crosses it returns nothing regardless of who asks.
What we ask in return
That a residence uses it honestly. Attendance recorded for people who were not there, or points used as a private punishment with no reason attached, make the record worthless for everyone - including the next House Committee, who inherit it.
And that someone tells us when it breaks. A bug reported on the day it appears is a small thing; the same bug found at the end of a term is a disputed leaderboard.
What HuisPunte is not
It is not a Stellenbosch University system. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the university, and nothing recorded in it is an official university record. Residence colours and names appear here because a residence asked for them, and the suggested palettes are design recommendations until that residence’s own leadership confirms them.
