Privacy notice

What HuisPunte holds about you, who can see it, and how to get it back or have it removed.

Placeholder. A POPIA compliance review is required before broad deployment.

What we hold

Your name, student number, university e-mail address, room and section, the groups you belong to, your point entries, your attendance records and any exemption documents you upload. Optionally a photo, phone number, preferred name and pronouns.

Who can see it

Only your own residence. Housemates see your name, photo, room, section and points - never your student number, e-mail address or phone number. Your leaders can see the full roster, because they administer the residence. The HuisPunte operator sees account and technical records, not your residence’s point data.

Scanning

Each scan records the time, the checkpoint and a random per-browser identifier. That identifier is not derived from your device or from you; it exists so that one phone scanning for several accounts can be flagged. If an event asks for location, it is used once to check the distance to the venue and then discarded except as a distance in metres.

Keeping and deleting

Point history is archived rather than deleted, so that a closed period can still be audited. You may request account deactivation, a copy of your data, or deletion where the law requires it. Supporting documents attached to exemptions are removed once they are no longer needed.

How to ask

Write to privacy@voiceforall.co.za from the address on your account, saying which residence you belong to and what you are asking for.
